Swan Hills RCMP apprehend and charge break and enter suspect
Swan Hills, Alta. – On Aug. 2, 2024, shortly before 9 p.m., the Swan Hills RCMP received a report that a male was trespassing on a commercial property located near Highway 32 in Woodlands County.
The report indicated the trespasser was being observed on surveillance footage trying to damage property. Members of the Swan Hills RCMP immediately attended the location and located the male suspect, with tools in hand, attempting to steal approximately $25,000 worth of items from the facility. The suspect was arrested.
On Aug. 21, 2024, as a result of the investigation, police have charged Tyler Cody Bennett (36), a resident of Whitecourt, Alta. for Break and Enter to commit theft.
Bennett was released from custody and is set to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Barrhead on Sep. 10, 2024.
“Businesses are increasing their efforts to assist us in apprehending suspects who commit crime on rural properties,” says Sergeant Stefan Manaigre of the Swan Hills RCMP, “Our RCMP members have fostered good relationships with our local businesses and provided them with tips on how to assist in deterring crime. Due to a savvy employee’s prompt call to police, our members were able to have a swift response and apprehend the suspect in the act. As always, I encourage members of the public to always call in any suspicious activity they observe”
