  • The Fairview Curling Club will send a delegation to the Town Council Meeting tonight (Tracy Watchorn, Clint Wild, & Sheryl Beigel).
    Roof construction funding for the club continues to be a priority, as curling was shut down until the building could be repaired.
  • The Town of Peace River is holding an “Active Transportation Plan” Community Engagement Session at the Baytex tomorrow from 4-8.
    It’s phase two of the process of connecting the entire town, to improve access to all areas of the community.
  • A Crime Prevention Symposium is happening tonight in Valleyview, 7pm at the Memorial Hall.
    The 18+ event is free and features coffee & donuts, and Guest speakers that include the Valleyview RCMP, the MD of Greenview, and the town of Valleyview.
  • The Alberta Government is ensuring that Food Banks in the province continue to receive funds.
    To help increase food security they’re once again providing $10 million to food banks & community organizations across the province.
  • Alberta Premier Danielle Smith joined together with leaders from across the country to call for Ottawa’s carbon pricing measures to be more fair.
    The Premier’s meeting in Halifax focusing on Health Care, Carbon Pricing, Cost of Living, & Alberta Withdrawing from CPP.
  • MPs voted yesterday on the Conservative Party motion to extend the carbon tax pause on home heating oil, to all other forms.
    It was defeated by the Liberals.
  • Canada has committed $60 million dollars in aid to the Gaza Strip since the beginning of October.
    Canada’s official development assistance (including humanitarian aid) totaled over $7 billion in 2021 (the most recent numbers).
  • After the success of “Now and Then”, more Beatles music could be in our future.
    “Song fragments” in the archives could be used, once again with the help of AI.
  • Nelly Furtado announced as host for the 2024 Junos.
    They’ll be held in Halifax next March.
