- Town Councils meet this morning, and tonight.
Birch Hills, Clear Hills and Northern Sunrise Counties, as well as The MD’s of Fairview and Greenview met this morning. The MD of Peace and the Town of High Prairie meet tonight. - The Cameron Hills Wildfire near Indian Cabins has increased to 24,000 hectares in size, and is now Out-of-control again.
The fire started in 2023, jumped Highway 35 earlier this month, and currently is moving back north towards the NWT again. - Alberta’s education minister is considering whether the province’s schools need consistent rules about cellphones and other smart devices in classrooms.
School Divisions like the Holy Family Catholic Regional Division, the Peace River and the High Prairie School Divisions have inquired about a policy being put in place. - The Alberta government has appointed a panel of experts from several universities to review research on how cannabis affects the brains of people under 25.
Minister of Mental Health and Addiction Dan Williams said the panel will assess the academic research and information available. - MP’s will be voting today on a Conservative-led motion to oust House of Commons Speaker Greg Fergus, amid renewed concern over his “alleged lack of impartiality.”
The Speaker’s office said it hasn’t quelled concerns from some MPs that Fergus is failing to live up to his duty to remain a fair arbiter in the chamber. - Wheatbelt Baseball League tonight… Sexsmith plays in Grimshaw, with both teams looking for their first win of the season.

- A chance of showers increase as the week proceeds in the Northwest, with a rainy day scheduled for tomorrow.
Highs today are in the high teens to low 20’s, with lows around 10 tonight. Skies could possibly clear up by the weekend.
