  1. A five-vehicle pile-up in Grande Prairie has resulted in the death of a five year-old. Police were called to the collision on Saturday afternoon on Hwy 43 at Hwy 43X.
    Initial reports indicate a pick-up ran into vehicles stopped at a red light at the intersection.
  2. Last month, the 31 year-old, under house arrest, resisted arrest, after being reported and caught. He was subsequently released on conditions.
    A week later, the man was reported in a back yard, and was arrested after throwing a piece of plywood at officers, and was ultimately subdued by a taser.
  3. Police have one person in custody in Parkland County, with ties to the Peace Region. Last month, the suspect abandoned a stolen truck from GP in Lac St. Anne County.
    Police in Parkland County and Mayerthorpe caught up with the suspect, after they stole a truck off a jobsite near Gleneves.
  4. In High Level, the RCMP presents monthly stats in a delegation. Council is also deciding upon a purchase of a Bucket Truck for Public works, and an update on STIP Funding. The towns of Peace River, Falher, Valleyview, and McLennan are also scheduled to meet tonight.
  5. Premier Danielle Smith’s intention to pull Alberta out of the national dental care program is taking some heat from the NDP.
    Dr. Luanne Metz, the opposition Health Critic, says it’s another example of the Premier “taking on a fight.” (Interview on App)
  6. Playoff match-ups are set in the Wheatbelt Baseball League. Grande Prairie will play Manning and Rycroft will play Peace River, each in a best-of-five.
    Grimshaw plays in Sexsmith tomorrow to wrap-up the regular season.
  7. The European Soccer Championships are into the semi-finals. Spain plays France tomorrow, the Netherlands plays England on Wednesday, the finals are Sunday.
  8. The Toronto Blue Jays are off today, before starting a three-game set in San Fransisco tomorrow. The Jays also play a three-game weekend set in Arizona, starting Friday, and then is the All-Star Break.
  9. Heat Warnings are in effect throughout Alberta, including here in the Northwest. Speratic smoke will also be lingering in the Mackenzie.
    Sunshine with numbers in the 30’s are happening today. The hottest day will be tomorrow, but digits will dip a little by Thursday.
