  1. Water is in short supply in La Crete… Mackenzie County has implemented Stage 3 ‘Water Rationing” until further notice.
    As a result, bulk water stations are closed, distribution pressure has been reduced, and a complete ban on outside use has been issued.
  2. A wildfire evacuation alert for 700 Garden River residents has been upgraded to an evacuation order.
    The order was issued due to a wildfire burning 10 kilometres from Highway 58. Residents have been told to pack food, water and medication for multiple days and go to the Horizon camp at John D’or Prairie.
  3. Alberta’s government has implemented a fire ban for the entire forest protection area.
    Hot and dry conditions have led to 137 new wildfire starts since July 1 and heightened the wildfire danger throughout the province.
  4. The Provincial Government is earmarking $1.7 million dollars into heritage conservation and awareness.
    The Heritage Preservation Partnership Program is dolling out grant money to 85 individuals and organizations to preserve alberta’s story.
  5. Albertans used a record amount of electricity on Tuesday as temperatures climbed further past 30 degrees.
    The Alberta Electric System Operator says the power grid is in good shape but “energy conservation always helps”
  6. A 6.4 magnitude earthquake was recorded off Vancouver Island near the coast of Tofino.
  7. Shelley Duvall, the movie star whose wide-eyed, winsome presence was a mainstay in the films “The Shining,” has died. She was 75.
