- Some fire bans in the Peace Region are being downgraded, thanks to the recent rains, but fires are still active.
The Semo Complex Fire continues to burn at 97,000 hectares, and the Little Red River Cree Nation is continuing with their Evacuation Order. - Parks Canada officials say they’re making progress on battling the blazes in Jasper National Park.
An update late Sunday night stated crews were busy on several fronts, with the Canadian Armed Forces mopping up spot fires on the northwest side of the town of Jasper. - With the constant delays and interuptions with Doctors in Fairview, the Village of Berwyn may be helping.
A policy is to be drafted that would include reduced rent, relocation assistance, continuing education. - Algae blooms have been identified in the waters of Winagami Lake, located near McLennan and High Prairie.
Avoid all contact with the algae blooms and don’t swim in areas where the algae is visible. - AHS is setting up Mobile Screen tests for signs of Breast Cancer in the North over the next few weeks.
Starting today and running through mid-August, the program will be at health centers in High Level, La Crete, John D’or Prairie, Fort Vermilion, Paddle Prairie and Manning. - The 62nd annual High Prairie Elk’s Pro Rodeo begins today, with lots of events on the agenda, which includes the Rodeo.

- Erica Ash, an actor and comedian skilled in sketch comedy who starred in the parody series “Mad TV” and “Real Husbands of Hollywood,” has died. She was 46.
- Richard Simmons, the perennial 1980s workout personality who was defined by his uplifting spirit, has died, according to his long-time publicist Tom Estey. He was 76.
