  1. Six Fires are part of the Semo Complex, but Alberta Wildfire is saying that four of them are now listed as Being Held.
    Information sessions are coming up tonight in Garden River, and tomorrow in Fox Lake and John D’or Prairie.
  2. A new Pumper-Rescue truck has arrived, and will be housed at the Fire Hall in High Prairie.
    The addition was approved by Big Lakes County Council, as part of their 2022 budget.
  3. Residents of Fort Vermilion will be without power for the bulk of the day today until 3:00.
    Planned outages have already occured twice in Zama City and once in Rocky Lane this week.
  4. Flags in the Peace Region are continuing to fly at half-staff for 24 year-old Morgan Kitchen was killed on the August long weekend, while battling the Jasper Wildfires.
    Also, 45 year-old Colin Hough was killed, after reports of a shooting in an area just north of Chestermere. Hough was an employee of Rocky View County.
  5. Applications from businesses are now being accepted for the annual Peace River Job Fair. Registration forms are found on the Peace River Chamber of Commerce FB Page.
    The Peace River Job Fair is Wednesday September 25th at Riverdrive Mall downtown.
  6. Canada’s telecommunications regulator is expanding a decision that allows smaller internet providers to use rivals’ fibre networks to offer their services to customers.
    The CRTC announced starting next February, telephone companies that own fibre internet networks, must give competitors access to their networks for a fee.
  7. Wheatbelt Baseball League tonight… Game 4, Manning is in Rycroft, the Rage are leading 2-1.
  8. The Toronto Blue Jays play Game 2 of their three-game set in California against the Angels. Kevin Gausman starts for the Jays against Carson Fulmer.
  9. Training camps for Senior and Bantam High School Football will be beginning in the next couple of weeks.
    While camps for teams in the Northwest Junior Hockey League will also be coming up, between now and the September long weekend.
  10. After 75 years of being a community owned team, the Edmonton Elks will soon have a new owner.
    A report says businessman and longtime season ticket holder Larry Thompson will be the team’s new owner.
  11. A mix of sun and Cloud is forecasted in the Northwest today, with temperatures in the high 20’s. Air Quality is an issue in the Peace and Mackenzie, as advisories are in place.
    Lows tonight might be a little uncomfortable with digits in the mid teens, with a slight chance of showers. The downward trend in high temps continue throughout the week.
