  1. Fox Lake RCMP continues their investigation into a homicide. A weapons complaint was received early Wednesday morning at the Nursing Station.
    A 19 year-old woman was being treated for a stab wound, and passed away due to her injuries. 19 year-old Reshawn Peecheemow has been arrested and charged with Manslaugter.
  2. St. Thomas More School in Fairview is now officially with the Holy Family Catholic Regional Division.
    The Ministerial Order has been signed and released by the office of the Alberta Education Minister, Demetrios Nicolaides.
  3. Shelves and cupboards are bare at Food Banks across the Peace Region, as school starts next week.
    Peace River and area is trying to alleviate that problem with a Food Bank Drive, happening tomorrow at Freson Bros on the West Hill. (Sandra LaForest Interview on App)
  4. With the impending water levels dropping along the Peace River, operators of the shaftesbury ferry are keeping people posted of water levels, and ferry operation.
    Weight restrictions are the main observance, as water levels fluctuate. Water levels are expected to drop because of the filling of the Site C reservoir until the end of the year.
  5. Grimshaw Council has been busy this summer. At a recent meeting, Bob Regal and Lynn Florence were sworn in as new Councillors.
    Council approved a donation to the Reduce Injury with Student Knowledge (RISK) program, being held in St. Isadore in October.
    Council voted to maintain the ATCO Electric franchise fee at the current rate for 2025. And, lighting upgrades have been approved to replace existing lighting at Mile Zero.
  6. Week 13 of the CFL season starts on Saturday with Ottawa in BC, playing in Victoria. Winnipeg plays in Saskatchewan on Sunday.
    Toronto in Hamilton, and Edmonton in Calgary on Monday.
  7. The Toronto Blue Jays start a three-game weekend set in Minnisota tonight. Kevin Gausman starts for the Jays against Pablo Lopez.
  8. Columbus Blue Jackets Forward Johnny Gaudreau was both killed last night when he was hit by a car while riding a bicycle in his home state of New Jersey.
    Gaudreau spent nine seasons in Calgary, before playing the last two in Columbus. Johnny Gaudreau was 31 years of age.
  9. Lots of sunshine is in store for the long weekend and beyond in the Northwest. Temps are in low to mid 20’s, except the Peace could get digits at, or near 30 degrees.
    Lows are around normal at 10 degrees at night, except the Peace might be a little chilly, and a little frosty tonight.
