  1. The Peace River School Division is looking for a new Superintendent. Adam Murray is resigning, as of the end of the calendar year, after spending over a decade at the post.
    Murray has accepted a position as the Superintendent of Yellowknife Catholic Schools.
  2. The Town of High Prairie is expected to follow up on the potential closing of the Youth Assessment Center at tonight’s meeting.
    At the last meeting, Council directed Administration to advise the High Prairie School Division of a meeting with the Minister of Children and Family Services on Sept. 26th.
  3. Alberta Agriculture reports that nearly a quarter of the major crops are in the bin, which is ahead of the 5-year average by a fair margin.
    Harvest for other crops is quite variable in the Northwest, with Dry Peas at 78%, Spring Wheat at 38%, 35% for barley and 25% complete for Oats.
  4. An Alberta MLA banned from the UCP caucus last year for comments comparing transgender youth to feces could soon be back in the ruling Alberta party’s fold.
    Jennifer Johnson was forced to run as an independent candidate after the comments came to light about two weeks before the 2023 provincial election.
  5. For the first time in almost 8,000 episodes, “Wheel of Fortune” did not open with a hello from longtime host Pat Sajak.
    Ryan Seacrest stepped into Sajak’s shoes after his 41-year tenure as host of the famed game show, joining co-host and letter turner Vanna White.
  6. The Edmonton Oilers announced that the team’s home jerseys will feature a sports betting and online gambling company’s logo for home games.
    The announcement is part of an extension of the existing partnership between the Oilers Entertainment Group and Play Alberta.
  7. The Toronto Blue Jays continue their three-game set at home to the New York Mets tonight. Chris Bassitt starts for the Jays against David Peterson.
  8. NHL teams are making roster moves ahead of Training Camp.
    Calgary has signed defenseman Jarred Tinordi to a one year contract while inviting Tyson Barrie to training camp on a player tryout agreement.
    Toronto has signed Nick Robertson to a one-year deal. Seattle has signed Adam Larson to a four-year extension.
