- Trial dates have been set for a man charged with murder in Downtown Peace River last August.
Derek Harold Ward will be tried by jury next May in the death of 44 year-old Frank Whitehead. - A man from Yellowknife has been given 3 1/2 years in prison after a car crash last June.
A 33 year-old woman died after two vehicles collided on Hwy 35, just north of Paddle Prairie. Brad Beaulieu was charged with impaired driving in the case. - A cause of death could not be determined for a women found in a burnt-out trailer in Falher in September, 2021.
But Roderick Ellery-Sorensen was given a year in jail on a charge of interfering with a dead body.
He admitted in court that interference occured to cover up both were using drugs, at the time of the blaze. - A Boil Water Advisory has been issued for Paddle Prairie.
The Metis Settlement is taking the precaution because of a power outage on Tuesday, which affected operations at the Water Treatment Plant. - Water restrictions have been lifted in the town of Valleyview. A Water Shortage Plan was put in place in town back in the early summer.
- The Alberta Council of Women’s Shelters’ has rewarded a worker from the Peace Region.
Fran Story, a crisis intervention worker at the Crossroads Resource Centre & Women’s Shelter in Fairview, has been honoured with the Joie Dery award for staff service. - They’ve given the town a more positive light with their presence.

Authorities are reminding motorists to be extra cautious, as they will be present on the roads during Thanksgiving.

- A generally gorgeous long weekend is in store weather-wise in the Northwest.
Highs are around 10 degrees today and tomorrow, but will warm up slightly for Sunday and Monday.
Lows are chilly tonight, but will stay above freezing through the long weekend. Temperatures will cool down again next week, with chances of precipitation thrown in.
