- Birch Hills County has a filled Council seat… Tim Chandonnet has defeated Margaret Mesher for the vacant Ward 6 Council seat.
Chandonnet received 68% of the vote. The seat was made available when Deputy Reeve Denise Joudrey passed away earlier this summer. - Mercer Peace River has been penalized for a violation of the Fisheries Act.
Reports indicate more than 30 million litres of effluent, which is wastewater toxic to fish, went into the Peace River.
Mercer Peace River has since taken steps to increase capacity of the Spill Pond by removing sludge and upgrading the associated pumping system. - The three-month contract between the town of Peace River and APEX Security has ended.
Officials are asking for calls to service involving social disorder, public nuisances, and encampment concerns need to be directed to the RCMP. - Alberta Agriculture and Irrigation is saying that 92% of the Crop in the province has been combined.
In the Peace Region, around 85% of the crop is in the bin, which is still 6-10 percentage points ahead of averages. - Alberta now has a new provincial health agency to help residents access primary care services.
Primary Care Alberta is one of four agencies created by the government to manage the health-care system and take over for Alberta Health Services. - The Provincial government is launching a $7-million series of ads against the federal government’s proposed cap on oil and gas emissions.
