  1. One of three people charged in an incident where gunshots were fired in Atikameg last April, has been sentenced.
    27 year-old Kelly Blanche Cardinal has been given six months, after pleading guilty to list of charges stemming from the incident.
  2. The City of Grande Prairie, County of Grande Prairie and the MD opf Greenview have collaborated, and have opened a new Fire Training Facility.
    The new compound offers significant cost savings and operational efficiencies for all three municipalities.
  3. Council in Birch Hills County has passed a Dangerous Dog Bylaw. The bylaw is specific to vicious dogs.
    Complaints are required to be submitted in writing.
  4. Alberta Premier Danielle Smith received a 91.5% vote of support from UCP members in a scheduled leadership review vote on the weekend.
    That number is far higher than the 54% Smith got when she won the party leadership in 2022.
  5. Calgary broadcast legend Darrel Janz died Saturday at the age of 83.
    Janz worked on the air for 61 years, including 50 years bringing the news to southern Alberta on CTV Calgary.
  6. Quincy Jones, a legendary music producer who worked with everyone from Michael Jackson to Frank Sinatra, died at age 91.
  7. Former chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Murray Sinclair has died at the age of 73.
  8. Local football happens this afternoon…The Peace River Pioneers play the Whitecourt Cats for the Peace Division Championship in 9-a-side High School Action.

  10. In Baseball news, Daulton Varsho of the Blue Jays has won a Gold Glove award in the American League.
    He joins Kevin Kiermaier, Vernon Wells, Shawn Green, Devon White and Jesse Barfield as gold glove outfielders for the Jays.
    Meanwhile, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is one of the finalists for the Silver Slugger awards.
  11. The NFL Monday-nighter is Tampa Bay at Kansas City.
  12. Rain in the Big Lakes today, but a mix of Sun and Cloud in the Peace and Mackenzie to begin the week.
    Highs are around zero this afternoon, with lows tonight around -5, as the Big Lakes gets 2-4 cm of snow.
