  1. High Level RCMP have a resident in custody after an assault allegedly took place. Police say one man received a gunshot wound and was treated in hospital.
    A search warrant resulted in the seizure of firearms, drugs and equipment for the purpose of forging credit cards.
  2. Birch Hills County has declared an Agricultural disaster for honey production.
    The County says the dry Spring attributed to drought conditions that affected the availability of food sources to the honeybees.
  3. The Municipal District of Greenview has published results of a recent solar energy project survey.
    Reports indicate half of responders say any approved project should cover no area larger then less than 10 acres, and the other half believe it should not be allowed even, if coexistence with existing agriculture was proven.
  4. The Holy Family Catholic Regional Division has announced that Superintendent Betty Turpin is retiring, as of the end of August.
    The Division is also announcing the Grand Opening of the new St. Thomas More School in Fairview will take place on Monday December 2nd.
  5. The Driftpile Cree Nation is getting into Election Mode.
    A final list of Candidates has been published with 13 people running for Chief and 62 people running for Councillor.
  6. Canada Post workers are on strike after failing to reach a negotiated agreement with their employer.
    The Canadian Union of Postal Workers says approximately 55,000 workers are striking, claiming little progress has been made in the bargaining process.
  7. Local Football this weekend… Peace River and Valleyview play in the Provincial Semi-finals of 9-a-side high school football tomorrow. Kickoff is 1pm at Glenmary School.
  8. NWJHL tonight… North Peace is in Fairview, Sexsmith is in Dawson Creek, and Beaverlodge is in Fort St. John.
  9. NPHL this weekend… Valleyview plays in Falher tonight.
    Tomorrow, Grande Prairie is in High Prairie, Dawson Creek is in Valleyview, Falher is in Fort St. John and Manning is in Fox Creek.
  10. AEHL this weekend…The U-13’s play two in La Crete, The U-15’s play 3 on the road, The U-18’s play 2 on the road.
  11. NJHL this weekend… The High Prairie Red Wings play tonight at home to Edson, and tomorrow in Mayerthorpe.
  12. AJHL this weekend… The Grande Prairie Storm play tonight and tomorrow at home to Camrose.
  13. A mix of Sun and Cloud is in the forecast for this afternoon, and heading into the weekend in the Northwest.
    Highs are around the freezing mark, except for -6 in the Mackenzie. The Fog in the Peace will disapate this afternoon as well. A few clouds tonight with lows around -10.
    You might see some snow at some point this weekend, but digits get cooler into next week.
