The report showed a 2% crime reduction from this time last year. - The 14th annual Alberta Pond Hockey Championships are now accepting registrations for the tournament in March in Lac Cardinal.
The hockey was cancelled in 2024 because of thin ice, but the Gala at Mile Zero went ahead. (Dave Allan Interview on App) - Blue-Green Algae advisories have been lifted in some region waterways.
Specifically, advisories at Lesser Slave Lake, Sturgeon Lake, Winagami Lake, and the Paddle River Reservoir have been cancelled. - A trio of bills affecting transgender people in Alberta have passed the final stage of debate in the legislature and are set to become law.
The changes include requiring children under 16 to have parental consent if they want to change their names or pronouns at school. - Canada Post has removed the deadline for its Santa Claus letter program amid a national workers’ strike that has halted mail delivery leading up to the holiday season.
55,000 workers walked off the job more than two weeks ago, suspending mail service — and a program that helps deliver letters from kids to the North Pole each year. - Starting Jan. 3, Air Canada says passengers, who opt for its basic fare on trips within North America and to sun destinations, will have to check any duffel bags, rollers and large backpacks for a fee.
