  1. Shipping is at a stand-still with the Canada Post Strike on, but the opportunity to Shop Local is presenting itself this Christmas season.
    Shopping on-line is also taking a backseat right now, which puts the emphasis on the Local shopping scene. (Layne Gardner interview on App)
  2. The Portable School at St. Thomas More School in Fairview is now officially open. Add to that, a financial donation towards the playground.
    MODUS Structures, based in Crossfield, gave $50,000 to the school, as part of the School’s Grand Opening this week.
  3. The Peace River School Division has published their Anti-Racism policy. Numerous initiatives are underway, as part of the strategy.
    The reviewing of Administrative procedures and policies are being implemented to align with cultural and racial inclusivity principles.
  4. The Alberta government has created six new areas where cougar hunting is allowed.
    Forestry and Parks Minister Todd Loewen says they estimate Alberta’s cougar population has reached about 2,000, while an ideal population is 1,500.
  5. Alberta’s education ministry says it is expanding education screening for young students.
    The province introduced twice-a-year screening for literacy and numeracy for Grade 1-3 students this fall, and recently introduced similar tools for K-5.
  6. Honda Canada will recall approx. 12,000 vehicles in Canada for a free inspection and, if necessary, the repair of the fuel pipe that may have been improperly assembled.
    Some vehicles may have an incomplete connection between the fuel filler neck tube and fuel filler pipe that could cause the two components to separate in case of a crash.

    Highs this afternoon are nudging +5 in the Peace and Big Lakes, but still at -12 in the Mackenzie.
    Digits will remain above or at zero for the balance of the weekend, and will cool off next week, but only a little.
