    Renewed optimism is being built in the area, thanks to ideas of possible nuclear energy, and with the new AI project in the MD of Greenview.
  2. The Mackenzie region has been designated as the Forest Capital of Canada for the second year in a row.
    The award is celebrating communities for their connectivity to the forest.
  3. Driftpile Cree Nation has had their election postponed until the new year.
    Originally scheduled for yesterday, has been rescheduled for January 20th, because of the Canada Post strike.
  4. Alberta’s NDP has won the provincial byelection in Lethbridge-West, holding onto a riding it has held since 2015.
    The legislature seat was left vacant after Shannon Phillips resigned on July 1.
  5. The federal government has pushed its target to achieve a net-zero electricity grid back to 2050 as part of new clean electricity regulations.
    Premier Danielle Smith says Alberta would immediately mount a legal challenge because the regulations wade into provincial jurisdiction.
  6. Two games in the NPHL tonight… Falher is in Fox Creek, and Dawson Creek is in Spirit River.
  7. Four Canadian teams are in action tonight in the NHL… Boston is in Edmonton, Ottawa is in Calgary and Vancouver is in Vegas.
  8. The NFL Thursday-nighter is Denver at the LA Chargers.
  9. 2-4 cm of snow is expected in the Northwest over the next 24 hours. But the temperatures are forecasted to warm up going into the Christmas holidays.
    Highs are at -19 this afternoon, except for -26 in the Mackenzie, with lows tonight remaining steady. Sunshine and digits near zero are expected for the arrival of Santa Claus.
