  1. Valleyview RCMP and Alberta Major crimes are investigating a fatal hit and run from Saturday morning.
    A 34 year-old woman from Sturgeon Lake, was found on the edge of Hwy 43 between Valleyview and Sturgeon Lake.
  2. Faust RCMP have a Joussard teen in custody after a traffic stop in late November. Police found open alcohol, ammunition, and a firearm in the vehicle.
    While the female driver was being questioned, a man jumped into the driver’s seat after being hidden underneath the backseat.
  3. 2024 was a year that started off controversially, but had optimism grow, leading into 2025.

  4. The NWJHL is now on the Holiday break after the weekend’s action.
    La Crete and North Peace won both of their games on the weekend, while Fairview lost both of their games.
  5. The North Peace Hockey League is also on their Holiday Break…
    In the East, Falher and Manning each have 9 wins, but the Pirates are four points ahead, and the Comets have three games in-hand.
    Fox Creek is 8-4, Valleyview is 3-7, and High Prairie is 1-11.
  6. The National Junior Hockey League is into their holiday break. The High Prairie Red Wings sit second in the North Division, seven games behind first-place Edson.
  7. Four Canadian teams are in the action in the NHL tonight before the League hits the Christmas break.
    San Jose is in Vancouver, Winnipeg is in Toronto, and Montreal is in Columbus.
  8. The fog is beginning to burn off in the Northwest, and it will turn into a pleasant afternoon. Highs are around zero, except for -6 in the Mackenzie.
    Just a few clouds are sticking around tonight with lows just below -10.
    The sunny skies and decent temperatures are sticking around for both Santa Claus, and the Boxing Day shoppers.
