  1. RCMP in Fairview have two people under arrest with warrants.
    30 year-old Friedrich Scmidt of Fairview and 34 year-old Tyler Ellery Horne of Whitelaw were taken in on breaching Release Orders.
  2. Roads in the Northwest are continuing to be slippery in sections because of the fluctuation in temperatures.
    This past weekend was especially challenging, as highways were skating rinks, causing numerous accidents, plus vehicles skidding off the road.
  3. Alberta has confirmed it will be sending 40 firefighters to help combat the raging fires that have killed at least 11 people and damaged or destroyed more than 10,000 structures in Los Angeles County.
  4. Alberta Premier Danielle Smith met with U.S. president-elect Donald Trump Saturday at Mar-a-Lago in Florida.
    Smith added that with a number of “key allies” of the incoming administration and was encouraged with their support for a “strong energy and security relationship with Canada.”
  5. Canada Post is raising the price of stamps, starting today.
    Stamps purchased in a booklet, coil or pane will cost 25 cents more at $1.24 per stamp. The price of a single domestic stamp is now $1.44, up from $1.15.
  6. Leslie Charleson, who played Dr. Monica Quartermaine for almost 50 years on “General Hospital,” has died. She was 79.
  7. Three games in the NHL tonight… LA’s in Edmonton, Calgary is in Chicago, Florida is in Philidelphia.
  8. NFL playoffs tonight… Minnesota is in Arizona to play the LA Rams.
  9. Casey Stoney, a former England captain who went on to win NWSL coach of the year honours, has been named coach of the Canadian women’s soccer team.
  10. The sun will start to peak out by this afternoon in the Northwest. The thawing temperatures will be continuing with highs at, or just above zero.
