- Peace Regional RCMP are asking to help locate a missing person. Police conducted a well-being check on 39 year-old David John Hallam, who was thought to be in the Grimshaw area.
However, with his vehicle being found abandoned last October at Lac Cardinal, and him last communicating with family and friends last April, concerns have been raised. - High Level RCMP have 5 people in custody on various charges. Police responded to a firearms complaint in town, where the three men and two women were arrested.
Two firearms, suspected cocaine, and unstamped cigarettes were seized. Two from Chateh, and one each from Paddle Prairie, Bushe River and Lethbridge have court dates. - Firefighters are continuing the Battle of the Blustery Wildfire in Los Angeles County.
Hundreds of personnel, including from the Peace Region are on the front lines trying to gain control of the massive fire, that is gaining strength because of the wind. - It was a challenging year for officials in Big Lakes County in 2024. - The premiers will gather in Ottawa today to meet with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and discuss a looming tariff threat from the USA.
President-elect Donald Trump is set to implement to levy tariffs on imports from some countries, to try and crackdown on illegal drugs and migrants coming into the U.S. - The first carbon rebate of 2025 is being paid out today to households in provinces that use the federal carbon pricing system — even as the future of the rebate program itself remains uncertain.
