  1. Transportation Minister Devin Dreeshen says the rehabilitation work on the PR Bridge will resume this spring with a new contract being awarded.
    The work will include replacing the bridge hangers and repairing cracks in the original floor beams, the completion of which won’t be until the fall of 2026.
  2. The Peace River School Division has started a School and Program Viability Review for the school in Dixonville.
    The Division say the review will tentatively be completed by mid March.
  3. At a recent PR Council meeting, first reading was passed to sell the town-owned portion of the old Lion’s Campground on the West side.
    The town has also given control of Recycling duties to Circular Materials, a company that will be run by the Province.
  4. Premier Danielle Smith said the province is pleased Canada avoided tariffs on Day 1 of the Trump administration, but the threat remains.
    Trump briefly broached the topic in his inaugural address, but later said the plan was to impose 25 per cent tariffs on all Canadian and Mexican goods on Feb. 1.
  5. The province has revealed the top baby names for 2024 with a lack of change for the top contenders.
    Noah, tops for the last six years, and Olivia, head of the class for the last 12 years, have earned top billing for a boy and girl, again.
  6. AJHL tonight… The Grande Prairie Storm play in Bonnyville for the start of a two-game mid-week roadtrip.
  7. Four Canadian teams hit the ice in the NHL tonight… Washington is in Edmonton, Buffalo is in Vancouver, Ottawa’s at the Rangers, and Tampa Bay is in Montreal.
  8. Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers and Tyler Myers of the Vancouver Canucks will each serve a three-game suspension for separate cross-checks to the heads of their opponents in the last few seconds of Saturday’s game.
  9. The Toronto Blue Jays have landed a big Free Agent. The Jays save signed switch-hitting outfielder Anthony Santander to a five year contract.
    Santander hit .235 with 44 homers and 102 RBI Baltimore last season.
  10. Light snow is in the forecast for this afternoon in the Northwest, but the digits are remaining mild. Highs are around zero, with lows tonight being comfortable.
    Skies will clear out starting tomorrow and remain that way into next week.
