  1. Peace Regional RCMP have one in custody from a proactive patrol in the downtown. One home on 101st Street was entered with permission, where a man jumped from a second-floor window.
    45 year-old Draper Nelson Laboucan of Peace River was due in court earlier this week.
  2. RCMP in GP conducted a traffic stop on Monday, but the driver was aid to attempt to exit the vehicle, and was arguing with authorities.
    A search seized drugs, cash, and other materials obtained by crime. A 41 year-old man from Grande Prairie is due in court this morning.
  3. After a delay thanks to the Canada Post strike, the DriftPile Cree Nation held their elections on Monday for Council.
    Dwayne Jiggs Laboucan remains as the elected chief receiving over 300 votes for the win.
    Napolean Collins, Rodney Chalifoux, Stan Isadore, Gabe Isadore, Caroline Isadore, Ed Collins, Hank Giroux and Francis Ward, along with Laboucan are the elected Councillors.
  4. The Village of Berwyn is changing their meeting schedule. Council will now just be meeting on the second Thursday of the Month at 6pm.
    Council used to meet twice a month to conduct business. Officials say the reduction will reduce costs and increase efficiencies.
  5. Manning Town Council has decided to remove the recycling bins in town. Officials say it’s due to the area becoming a dumping ground for the recycling.
    The bins are being removed early next month. Meanwhile, recycling bins have been removed from their station in High Prairie.
  6. The new SubZero Skateway is operating in Peace River’s Northend at the Norman Boucher Arboretum. (Rylee Labbe Interview in separate story)
  7. NWJHL tonight… Grande Prairie is in Fairview.
  8. AJHL tonight… The Grande Prairie Storm are in Fort McMurray.
  9. Four games in the NHL tonight… Columbus is in Toronto, Winnipeg is in Colorado, Boston is in New Jersey, and Florida’s in LA.
  10. The Baseball Hall Fame has its Class of 2025. Ichiro Suzuki, CC Sabathia and Billy Wagner will be officially inducted this summer.
  11. Mother Nature has sunshine and decent temperatures on the menu in the Northwest for the next week.
    Highs this afternoon are around -5, with lows being quite comfortable at night. Digits could get above zero by Sunday.
