  1. RCMP have issued another WANTED alert, this time for Jarod Brandon Gene Whitehead.
    He’s wanted by Peace Regional RCMP for various crimes in Little Buffalo, the Woodland Cree First Nation, Loon Lake, and Peace River.
  2. Faust RCMP, High Prairie RCMP and Lakeshore Regional Police have two in custody on drug and stolen property offenses.
    Suspected cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and over $13,000 in cash was seized. 19 year-old Zylo Sebastian Badger of High Prairie and a 20 year-old from Edmonton have dates with the judge.
  3. Despite the water being in good shape, test-wise, the Boil Water Advisory is still in effect in the MD of Smoky River.
    Tests have been done, but results and the subsequent lifting of the order have not been issued.
  4. The Town of High Level has unveiled their new logo to celebrate the town’s 60th anniversary.
    The logo reflects the rich history and bright future of the community, from originsal fur trade roots to present-day industry and culture hub.
  5. The Town of Grimshaw is taking a page from Northern Sunrise County’s attraction book.
    Like the one at Cecil Thompson Park, the town of Grimshaw is installing a bouncy pillow for recreation purposes.
  6. Alberta has the most registered physicians in the province’s history, but critics say it’s still not enough to keep up with population growth.
    Health Minister Adriana LaGrange noted that Alberta had over 12,000 physicians in 2024. 2024 had 247 doctors for every 100,000 Albertans, compared to 253 in 2019.

    The U-13’s play tomorrow in Grande Prairie. The U-15’s play tomorrow in Fairview and Sunday in High Prairie. The U-18’s play tomorrow in Fort St. John.
  10. NJHL this weekend… The High Prairie Red Wings play tonight in Gibbons, tomorrow at home to Lac La Biche, and Sunday at home to Gibbons.
  11. The Grande Prairie Storm of the AJHL have this weekend off.
  12. Lots of Sunshine is forecasted in the Northwest this weekend. Highs are around zero, and even pushing +5 by the the first of the week.
    Lows at night are decent, but temps will cool off a bit come the middle of next week.
