  1. Four people are dead after a two-vehicle crash on Highway 986, near Marten Lake on Sunday.
    Red Earth Creek RCMP received reports of possible impaired driving leaving the hamlet, and while on route, the collision occurred.
  2. One person was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries after a pickup hit a stationary semi, on Hwy 688, north of St. Isadore on Saturday.
    The driver of the pickup had to be cut out of the vehicle. The driver of the semi wasn’t hurt.
  3. A 25% tariff on all aluminum and steel has been imposed by President Donald Trump, that takes effect on March 4.
    That is the scheduled date for when the Tariff pause expires, thus further questioning the state of the economy in North America.
  4. Northwestern Polytechnic has partnered with Spartan Controls, based in Calgary, in new education space for the campus in Grande Prairie.
    The 15-year deal gives exclusive naming rights to Spartan on the NWP’s new $16 million-dollar full-service training and education facility.
  5. Birch Hills County and the MD of Smoky River is giving the public a chance to gather information on possible new industry.
    Nucleon Energy is holding an open information session, aimed at enabling communities to assess opportunities. The session is tonight at 7:00 a Centre Chevalier in Falher.
  6. The Coffee with a Cop series is underway, where the community talks to the members of the RCMP about the issues in the neighborhood.

  7. Alberta Premier Danielle Smith is travelling back to Washington, D.C., this week to lobby U.S. lawmakers and industry players amid continued tariff threats.
    Smith says she will embrace a “Team Canada approach” to convince Americans the levies would harm workers and businesses on both sides of the border.
  8. NPHL Playoffs tonight… Game 2 – Dawson Cr3eek is in FSJ, the Canucks took the opening game.
  9. Hockey Canada is hiring a full-time GM for their Program of Excellence, which includes overseeing the World Junior team.
    Changes to the World Junior program come after back-to-back quarter-final exits at the tournament, marking the first time Canada has failed to medal at two straight World Juniors since 2013 & 2014.
  10. Major League Baseball training camps are starting this week… Question marks are beginning to surface about the future in Toronto for Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
    Vladdy is entering the final year of his contract with the Blue Jays, and some reports that contract extension numbers being thrown out for him are over $400 million.
  11. The Extreme Cold Warnings are gone in the Peace and Big Lakes, but is still around in the Mackenzie.
    The chance of flurries is also still present in the Northwest, with highs this afternoon in the negative teens.
