- Three people charged after shots were fired in Atikameg, have all been given time served.
Kevin Wyatt Badger, Kelly Blanche Cardinal, and Jack George Auger had sentances handed down, after their arrests last April. - The future of Dixonville School is being discussed with the public.
The Division has set up a public meeting on Wednesday April 2 at the School to present information and receive feedback. - The Peace River School Division has approved their budget, that spans for the next four school years.
The plan includes value scoping in Fairview and Peace River, as well as pre-planning for value scoping and modernization of Worsley Central School.
The Board has also approved the purchase of at least six, 70-passenger school busses and one wheelchair lift-equipped bus, with two wheelchair spots. - Council in High Level have approved their Operating Budget for 2025. The Budget will see a 3% tax increase, as presented by Administration.
A Returning officer has been appointed for this Fall’s Election, and an Accounting Company has been hired as the financial reviewer for the High Level Municipal Library Board. - Grimshaw Council has approved requests for street closures happening at the Harvest Moon Festival this fall.
Council has also approved the use of the Parking lot north of the Admin building for the Youth Center’s event happening in May. - Alberta has 11 confirmed cases of the measles, prompting doctors and medical experts to highlight major concerns over low vaccination rates for the virus.
8 cases of the measles have been confirmed in Alberta’s North Zone, including three in John D’or Prairie, and the exposure times at St. Theresa Hospital in Fort Vermilion. - NPHL Finals tonight… Game 4 – Manning is in Falher, the Pirates lead 2-1.
- Interest has also surfaced in bringing a North Peace Hockey League team back to Peace River.
The Stampeders last played in the League in 2010, and have won the Campbell Cup 11 times, their last in 2007.
The League did expand this past season with the return of High Prairie, and the addition of Fox Creek. - Six Canadian teams hit the ice in the NHL tonight. Utah is in Edmonton, Calgary plays at the Rangers, Winnipeg is in Vancouver, and Ottawa is in Montreal.
