- Challenges in downtown Peace River, are being identified and addressed tonight.
A community workshop is taking place at 6:00 at the Sagitawa Friendship Center, that is the old Al Adair Rec. Center. - The Provincial Government is fast-tracking 11 school projects to be built or re-developed, that includes some schools in the Peace Region.
Facilities in the initial process include the moderizations of GP Vanier School in Donnelly, and L’Ecole Heritage in Falher. - Over $600,000 in grant money has been provided to organizations in the Peace Region.
The Towns of Peace River and High Level, The Dene Tha First Nation, and The Regional Economic Development Initiative for Northwestern Alberta are receiving funding for various projects within the jurisdiction. - Of the major crops, which includes Spring Wheat, Barley, Oats, Canola, and Dry Peas, the crop is a quarter planted in the Peace, and nearly a third done in the Northwest.
That’s 7-15 percentage points higher than the five and ten-year averages, which is attributed to by the dry and sunny weather. - The Sagitawa Friendship Center is moving forward, after the fire at the Ground Level Youth Center, earlier this month.
Crews responded on the Mother’s Day weekend, to the blaze, that significantely damaged the “House by the Bridge” - Wheatbelt Baseball League tonight… Rycroft is in Grimshaw, 7:15 at Mile Zero. The Rage are 0-1, the Huskies are 1-0.
- Game 2 of the East final is tonight in the NHL. Florida is in Carolina. The Panthers took the opening game.
- Canada plays in the Quarter-final this afternoon at the World Hockey Championships in Sweden and Denmark. Canada plays the Danes, starting around 12:30.
- A mix of sun and cloud this afternoon in the Northwest with a slight chance of showers. Highs are still around 20 degrees, with lows tonight still hovering around 5.
The clouds will burn off heading into the weekend, with temps warming up to near 30, by the middle of next week.
