One of the biggest fights in recent UFC history was the fight between Lightweight Champion Islam Makhachev and Featherweight Champion Alexander Volkanovski back in February. The fight between two guys not known for their drawing abilities, drew MAJOR for the company that saw Islam get his hand raised in the close contest that many thought went the other way. Islam was scheduled to fight in a different rematch versus Charles Oliveira, whom he dominated to take the belt, that rematch was scheduled for UFC 294 on October 21st. Oliveira sighting a cut that required stitches above his eye for the reason for pulling out of the fight, though he never seemed interested in the rematch.

Volkanovski was tentatively scheduled to defend his Featherweight championship in January in Toronto before the shocking announcement yesterday that with 10 days notice he will be heading to Abu Dhabi for another shot at “champ-champ” status. This comes after Volk decided not to pursue to rematch as he needed to recover form an injury and Islam had the Oliveria fight booked and wished to remain active.

Well UFC fans get Christmas coming early as this will cause the poorly promoted card to skyrocket within two weeks of the fight.
