Time served in Atikameg shooting

Three individuals have been sentenced to time served following a shots fired investigation in Atikameg.

Kevin Wyatt Badger and Kelly Blanche Cardinal both pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including careless use of a firearm, flight from a peace officer, possession of a firearm in a vehicle, and dangerous operation of a vehicle.

Badger received a sentence of 120 days time served, while Cardinal was credited with 60 days already spent in custody.

Jack George Auger also pleaded guilty to careless use of a firearm and resisting a peace officer, receiving a 120-day time served sentence.

The arrests followed an incident on April 19, 2024, when the High Prairie RCMP responded to reports of gunshots at a residence in Atikameg.

The suspects were pursued, and their vehicle was stopped using a tire deflation device.

Two of the suspects attempted to flee on foot but were apprehended with the assistance of police dogs.

The investigation involved collaboration from the Slave Lake, Faust, and Red Earth RCMP detachments.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.
