After 18 years of dedicated service, Betty Turpin has announced her retirement as Superintendent of Holy Family Catholic Regional Division, effective in August of 2025.

“On behalf of the entire school board, I want to extend our deepest gratitude to Superintendent Turpin for her remarkable leadership and dedication to our division,” says Board Chair Kelly Whalen. “Over the years, Betty has been a guiding force in Catholic Education, inspiring both students and staff alike, and leaving an indelible mark on our communities. Her legacy will continue to shape our schools for years to come.”

During her tenure, Superintendent Turpin led the division through several important milestones, including the building of the Grimshaw Shared School Facility, adding vape detectors in all the division’s schools, leading the growth in mental health services in education, and most recently, welcoming St. Thomas More School into the division, ensuring that the portables project moved forward.

“As I prepare to retire, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone I’ve worked with at HFCRD,” says Superintendent Turpin. “Over the years, I’ve been

privileged to lead such a dedicated group of educators, students, and families. Together, we’ve built a strong foundation for future success, and while I’m stepping away from my role, the work we’ve done will continue to inspire and shape the area for years to come.”

Turpin took over the role as Superintendent at HFCRD in August of 2007, after three years as Deputy Superintendent with Grande Prairie & District Catholic Schools.

The HFCRD board of trustees will begin the search for a new superintendent in the coming months, and are committed to ensuring a smooth transition as the leadership changes hands.
