A pair of men from Grande Prairie both face charges of child pornography.
Justin Doucet and Jason Lovely appear in a provincial court room on separate charges on Wednesday, June 28, 2017.
Doucet was arrested on May 16 after a two-month investigation began with a search and seizure on March 17. He is now charged with Possession, Distribution and Accessing Child Pornography. The investigation resulted from reports received by the National Child Exploitation Centre in Ottawa that child porn was being shared on multiple social media platforms.
The suspect is now out on bail with strict conditions.
On May 10, Mounties executed a search warrant at another home, which resulted in Lovely’s arrest. He is now charged with Possession and Distribution of Child Pornography.
These investigations were conducted in partnership with ALERT’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit. It’s an integrated team of RCMP officers, along with police in Calgary, Edmonton, Lethbridge and Medicine Hat. Their purpose is to investigate offences involving child porn, any computer-related child sexual abuse, internet child luring, voyeurism with victims under 18-years-old, and child sex trade/tourism.
Police ask anybody who knows of any online criminal activity to contact their local detachment immediately. They can also contact Crime Stoppers, or they can report it on www.cybertip.ca.
