
A 47-year-old man is facing two charges after an assault in Fort Vermilion just before midnight on August 12.
The RCMP was called after the suspect broke into a residence and allegedly violently assaulted the victim with a weapon leaving the individual with life-threatening injuries.
The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived on scene.
Police eventually tracked down the suspect and he was arrested without incident.
Travis St. Arnault of John D’or Prairie has been charged with:
- Breaking, entering and committing – Sect.348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code
- Aggravated assault – Sect. 268(2) of the Criminal Code
He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Fort Vermilion Provincial Court on September 1.
The Mounties did not release any information on the identify of the victim but did say that the person is in stable condition.
