Viersen Advocating For More Oil Projects To Happen

Peace River-Westlock MP Arnold Viersen met with some constituents at some town hall events recently.

Viersen says a number of topics were brought up including how to get more projects for the oil and gas sector.

“One of the things that I’ve been advocating for is the Prime Minister pick up the phone and call President Biden and say hey let’s get that Keystone XL Pipeline Built. That would help dramatically to improve the confidence oil companies have in Northern Alberta. We talked about rural crime and inflation and we got to talk about crime rates across the country and how do we deal with that so we got to talk about a whole host of things.”

One move made by the federal government last week is getting some praise from Viersen.

The Liberals approved the Bay du Nord oil project in Newfoundland which Viersen says will hopefully lead to oil projects getting approved in our region.

“It’s the first major oil project that they’ve approved and I’m excited that they’re approving oil projects again. It’s off the coast of Newfoundland, deep sea drilling that they’re going to be doing there. I’m excited to see that going forward and hopefully that will inspire other oil companies to come to Northern Alberta and consider doing investments up here.”

Also discussed was the current leadership race for the Conservative Party, with Viersen saying that he is supporting Leslyn Lewis in that.
