The Conservative Party of Canada has sent a letter to Commissioner of Elections Canada, Yves Côté.
According to Peace River-Westlock MP, Arnold Viersen, Tory MP’s want to know if Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and the Liberal Party of Canada, violated Subsection 363(1) of the Canada Elections Act, which states prohibits the making of contributions – whether monetary or “in-kind” – by incorporated entities.
Viersen says it’s become obvious that the Prime Minister and the WE Charity were in cahoots.
“The WE Charity was doing work for them, (the federal liberal party) helping them identify supporters, and also helping them collect votes in the last election,” says Viersen.
“The charity also produced a promotional video for Trudeau in the last election and we are asking Elections Canada to whether or not that violates the spending caps or if there were ‘in-kind’ donations.”
The WE scandal was first brought to the public eye when the government was preparing to award a student volunteer grant program contract to the charity worth over $900 million.
The full letter that was co-signed by Conservative MP’s Pierre Polievre and Michael Barrett can be found here.
