It’s currently threatening cereal crops in the U.S. states of Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, South Dakota and Montana.

And on this side of the border, about a dozen fields in Alberta were confirmed to have the virus last year.

Mike Harding, a plant pathologist for Alberta Agriculture & Forestry (AF), says to keep an eye out for yellow streaks on leaves of cereal crops.

“Scouting will be especially important in and around winter wheat fields in southern Alberta,” Harding said in a news release. “That especially goes for all land south of Highway 12.”

If you want more information, or you want to test out some samples, please give Mr. Harding a call at 403-362-1338.
