While people have been returning home on the Little Red River Cree Nation this week, the area is still under an evacuation alert as a precaution in case residents have to leave again on short notice.

The Semo Complex wildfire is still classified as out of control at more than 97,000 hectares in size.

More than 450 wildland firefighters and support personnel, 22 helicopters and more than 100 pieces of heavy equipment are currently working on the blaze.

Fire guards have been set up to help prevent the blaze from getting closer to Highway 58 and the communities in the area.

The fire danger is now high to very high along the northern boreal region of the province.

One other recent out of control fire is in Saddle Hills County where people in the Gundy and Gordondale areas are on an evacuation alert.

Fire restrictions are still in place in the High Level and Grande Prairie forest areas while Peace River is now under a fire advisory.
