People across Alberta are being urged to continue following fire bans and restrictions to avoid new fires starting up.
More hot and dry weather is expected in the North which could increase the wildfire activity.
Since the beginning of January, there have been 788 wildfires recorded in the Forest Protection Area that have burned more than 269,000 hectares.
Right now there are 27 firs in Alberta that are labeled as “out of control”.
One of those is the Semo Complex wildfire, and more personnel and aircraft have been imported from other provinces and the US to help with suppression efforts
Meanwhile the people who evacuated from Garden River because of the fire are now eligible emergency evacuation payments.
Applications can be made through the province of Alberta website with the payments starting tomorrow.
