
The number of active wildfires in Alberta continues to climb with extreme fire danger throughout much of the province.
As of this morning there are now 146 active wildfires, and Alberta currently has more than 1,800 personnel, 156 helicopters and 21 aircraft responding to wildfires throughout the province.
The Semo Complex Fire has seen some growth at more than 51,000 hectares in size, but it has not moved closer to Garden River or Highway 58.
Alberta Wildfire officials say there is active fire activity along the southwest and south sides of the perimeter, which is presenting considerable challenges for firefighters and support personnel.
Another notable out of control fire is the one near Keg River.
Firefighters from Peace River, High Level and Manning have been dispatched to set up sprinkler systems on some homes in the area.
Officials with the County of Northern Lights are asking residents to take emergency preparedness steps as a safety measure.
