High Prairie Outlaws Fall Short in PCBFL Season Opener

The Peace Country Bantam Football League began their season over the weekend.

And for the High Prairie Outlaws, things didn’t quite go as planned to start their sophomore season.

Although they did rally in the second half of the game, they still fell to the Grande Prairie Raiders 36-24.

But still, Outlaws Head Coach Tom Duchesneau says they did well, considering last season was the first time the team ever played.

“A lot of these kids, before this year, have never even touched a football,” Duchesneau told the Trending 55 Newsroom. “It’s already impressive, and it’s just going to get better.

“Hopefully, as we get time to practice more, we’ll just get better and better,” he continued. “As I said, I’m very impressed with their performance, and the kids seem very happy with their performance as well.”

Duchesneau says the team’s looking forward to their next game, which will take place on Saturday, September 16, 2017. The Outlaws will head to Peace River’s Glenmary Field to tangle with the Prospectors.

Speaking of the Prospectors, they have their season opener on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, when they welcome the Sexsmith Shamrocks to town.
