Peace River Cash Spiel Starts Tomorrow

The 3rd leg of the Pomeroy Peace Curling Tour is set to start on Friday at the Peace River Curling Club.

This latest match-up, the Peace River Cash Spiel, has 20 teams competing from right across Northern Alberta, and some from Northeast British Columbia.

In the Competitive Division, teams include Skip Jeff Ginter of Dawson Creek, who’s won the first two legs of this tour. Also included is Warren Cross of Edmonton, who is the defending champion of this spiel, and then there is Scott Webb of Peace River, who currently is in sixth overall in the Alberta tour, and is ranked in second overall in the Peace Tour..

The previous legs of the tour saw match-ups go at Grande Prairie from October 27 to 29, and then in Fort St. John from November 10 to 12.

The fourth leg is set to go from December 8 to 10 in Dawson Creek, while the Tour Championship itself goes in Sexsmith from January 12 to 14, 2018.

As for the Peace River Spiel, things begin at 11 AM, and will go until midnight.

Things then resume on Saturday from 8:30 AM until midnight, with the playoffs going on Sunday.

First, the Quarter-Finals go at 9 AM, followed by the semis at noon, and then the Championship Finals at 3 PM.

Two other divisions who play in this tournament are the Challenge Division, which wants to gain more experience before entering competitively, and then there’s the Junior Division for the kids.

The event is being sponsored by Northern Sunrise County, Arrow Transportation, KIX FM and YL Country.
