A company based in Dawson Creek is working towards building a solar energy farm near Peace River. Peace Energy Cooperative Executive Director, Don Pittit, and other company representatives will be at the Baytex Energy Centre in Peace River on November 21st to talk about their plans, as well as renewable sources of energy. In an interview with the Trending 55 Newsroom, Pitts mentioned that they are looking at land by the airport for a potential solar farm. “It’s a cool place to put solar (energy) because it’s land that really can’t be used for anything else. It’s set aside as airport land and you probably can’t put anything higher than 10 feet there. Generally speaking, we can put solar farms on that property so it’s ’n excellent use for land that would normally be vacant.”

The information session will be at 7:00 p.m. The Trending 55 Newsroom had an in-depth discussion with Pittit about the Peace Energy Cooperative’s plans for the region as well as a chat about different types of renewable energy.
