An end to the cold spell affecting Northwestern Alberta could be in sight. According to Dan Kulak, Meteorologist for Environment and Climate Change Canada, thermometres may start moving up early next week.

“I think there is some relief from the cold weather basically towards the latter part of this weekend, gradually into next week,” says Kulak. “Instead of it being 20 degrees below normal, it will be 10 degrees below normal.”

Kulak adds that most of the country is currently under a cold spell.

“We have a sub-zero temperature in Victoria today, and the warmest spot today is in Ontario, and that is barely a degree,” states Kulak.

According to the federal government’s weather service, the temperature is not expected to be above minus 26 in the Peace Region, and minus 22 in the Mackenzie area.
