A 37-year-old Simon Lakes man is facing multiple charges after a dangerous series of driving incidents north of Peace River earlier this month.

Peace Regional RCMP say officers responded May 15th to reports of a possible impaired driver traveling toward Simon Lakes. Police allege Sidney James Keyespapamatao crossed into oncoming traffic, forcing another driver into the ditch to avoid a head-on crash.

Investigators say a second vehicle was sideswiped at high speed after pulling over due to safety concerns. More complaints followed of erratic driving throughout Simon Lakes before the suspect vehicle ended up stuck in a ditch. The driver then reportedly fled on foot.

RCMP later located Keyespapamatao, who now faces several charges including impaired operation, dangerous driving, failure to remain at the scene of an accident, and mischief-related offences. He is scheduled to appear in court June 8th in Peace River.

Police are thanking residents who reported the incidents and continue to encourage the public to report suspected impaired drivers.
