Alberta Transportation says no one was injured following the arm of a crane falling on the Peace River bridge project on Monday.
In an e-mail to the Trending 55 Newsroom, a spokesperson says a cable supporting the lattice boom crane snapped, which caused the arm to fall on the recently installed girders.
Occupational Health and Safety has given the green light to clear the damaged crane from the construction site.
The province is now conducting a full investigation to learn what caused the cable to break.
The statement went onto say once the debris is cleared, Alberta Transportation will be able to determine if there was any damage to the girders.
The spokesperson also added that due the incident being under investigation, there is no additional comment at this time.
