Business Manager Believes Positives Came From Pandemic

The COVID pandemic has had an effect on a number of small businesses across the region.

At High Level Motor Products, General Manager Chris MacLeod says the biggest problem they faced was a lack of inventory.

“With the manufacturing plants being down for a few months, as we were selling trucks, there was nothing in the pipeline to replace them. We didn’t make a whole lot of changes. We adjusted our hours a little bit and increased our cleaning practices on units. Overall it was just a lack of inventory that affected us.”

MacLeod says one positive he thinks came out of it was people getting a better understanding of how important these businesses are to their communities.

“We live in a small Northern community. If you don’t support local businesses, minor hockey and little league and dance and things like that aren’t going to survive. It’s the local businesses that are supporting them, not the big box stores in Edmonton and Grande Prairie.”

All this week is small businesses week and MacLeod says having successful small businesses sets up their communities for success as well.
