Covid-19 Update: June 1

On June 1, 2021 Alberta Health Services confirmed 209 additional cases of COVID-19 in the province.

The total number of active cases in Alberta is continually declining and is now at 6,771.

There are currently 438 people in hospital with the virus and 127 are in ICU.

In the North Zone for active cases, there are 42 in Mackenzie County, 12 in the MD of Greenview, 11 in the MD of Peace while all other surrounding counties and MD’s in our region have four active cases or less.

Premier Jason Kenney released the details on speeding up second dose appointments for vaccines on Tuesday.

Albertans will be able to schedule second-dose appointments in the order they received their first doses.

  • Anyone vaccinated in March or earlier can book their second dose starting June 1.
  • Anyone vaccinated in April can book their second dose starting June 14.
  • Anyone vaccinated in May can book their second dose starting June 28.

Over 2.8 million doses of vaccine has been administered in Alberta, with 63.4 per cent of Albertans aged 12-plus having received at least one dose as of June 1.

  • Spirit River area – 38.4%,
  • Fairview area – 36.7%,
  • Manning area – 35.9%,
  • Valleyview area – 35.1%,
  • High Prairie area – 31.3%
  • High Level area (Mackenzie County) – 12.6%
