COVID-19 UPDATE: March 15

On March 15, Alberta Health Services confirmed 364 new cases of COVID-19 over the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 138,778.

Three people passed away, which means 1,949 Albertans have now died from COVID-19.

255 people are currently in hospital due to COVID.

In the North Zone, there are 12,837 cases of COVID-19 and 141 people have passed away.

There are currently 818 active cases in our zone with 188 in Mackenzie County, 40 in the MD of Peace, 30 in the MD of Greenview, six in Big Lakes County, five in Northern Sunrise County, while all other jurisdictions in our area have four or less active cases.

AHS is reporting that 132,028 people have recovered from the virus.

This means that there are currently 4,811 active cases across Alberta.

Outbreaks have been declared at the following facilities:

  • Knowledge Tree Childcare Centre, Valleyview
  • Mighty Peace Chevrolet, Buick, GMC
  • Peace River Correctional Centre
  • Valleyview Health Centre

To help slow spread or ease fear of catching COVID-19, the government recommends washing your hands for at least 20 seconds, and to avoid touching the face.

The Government of Alberta also made masks mandatory indoors
