Covid-19 Update: May 26

On May 26, 2021 Alberta Health Services confirmed 390 additional cases of COVID-19 in the province.

The total number of active cases in Alberta have been dropping and is now at 10,953.

Hospitalization rates are also down; there are currently 548 people in hospital with the virus and 157 are in ICU.

In the North Zone for active cases, there are 80 in Mackenzie County, 24 in the MD of Greenview, 10 in the MD of Peace, nine in the MD of Fairview and County of Northern Lights while all other surrounding counties and MD’s in our region have four active cases or less.

Vaccination rates around our region:

  • Falher area – 41.6%,
  • Peace River area – 38.1%,
  • Spirit River area – 36.6%,
  • Fairview area – 34.9%,
  • Manning area – 34.6%,
  • Valleyview area – 33.8%,
  • High Prairie area – 30.2%
  • High Level area – 11.5%

Step 1 of the new province wide re-opening plan is taking full effect on June 1, with over 50% of eligible Albertans already receiving at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and hospitalizations under 800 people and declining.
