This NWJHL season is looking to be a very exciting one for the North Peace Navigators.
The team is hosting the Junior B Provincials this season and Head Coach and GM Jody Menssa says they have quite a number of players returning from last season.
“Lots of returning players so we’re pleased for that. It’s definitely a tight group of returning groups and it’s quite welcoming to see them all again this year and they’re an excited group with the year ahead of them. It was great to have everyone back and then get to see everyone on the ice.”
The Navs completed their training camp this past weekend and Menssa says it was a lot more intense than previous years.
“We had a smaller camp with regards to the number of players that were out this year compared to the last couple of seasons, but I think the quality of players that showed up this year was definitely an improvement over the past years. The quality vs quantity thing I guess and I think that helped to have an impact on the competition at camp.”

The team will have some more practices over the next two weeks, followed by a couple of pre-season games on September 8 against Dawson Creek and on September 9 against Fairview (both of those games are at home).
