The championship series for the North Peace Hockey League will begin this week. The battle for the Campbell Cup will feature the Falher Pirates against the Spirit River Rangers. Falher hasn’t played that many games in the playoffs, getting a first round bye after winning the East Division in the regular season, then swept the Manning Comets in the semi-finals. The Rangers meanwhile had to grind their way past the Grande Prairie Athletics in seven games in the first round before getting a five game win over the Dawson Creek Canucks. When it comes to league championships, Falher has three to their credit (1955, 1981 and 2012) while Spirit River has 11 NPHL championships, two back of Grimshaw and High Prairie who are tied for the most.
