With the Alberta government putting the province back into step one of public health restrictions, additional grants are in place for businesses in need.

Premier Jason Kenney was joined at a press conference by Minister of Jobs, the Economy and Innovation, Doug Schweitzer to announce that small businesses can access up to another $10,000 through the Small and Medium Enterprise Relaunch Grant.

According to a government media release announcing the program’s new round, businesses such as hotels, taxi companies, and ride sharing services can apply.

The payment will also be available to newer companies that first opened their doors between March 1, 2020, and March 31, 2021.

“Small businesses have borne the brunt of pandemic restrictions, and have made real sacrifices to protect our health-care system and save lives,” says Kenney.

“That’s why Alberta’s government has already committed over $500 million in support through the Small and Medium Enterprise Relaunch Grant, and it’s why we are expanding that support today.”

According to the government, applications for this fourth round of funding under this grant program will open next week with the final day to apply being May 31.
