There are reports Vancouver native Ryan Reynolds has interest in buying the Ottawa Senators with plans to keep the team in the Ottawa area. This reports comes from Peoples Magazine and comes a source close to the actor.
Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported the team was set to be put up for sale soon and Galatioto Sports Partners has been retained to help with the process. Melnyk’s two adult daughters inherited the franchise and the team is in the early planning stages to build a new arena on the Lebreton Flats closer to downtown.
No word on if the Canadian actor would be interested in buying the team himself or as part of of a group. The Deadpool actor is already a co-owner of the Welsh football club Wrexham A.F.C along with a variety of companies and business ventures. Reynolds has said his wife actress Blake Lively was not a fan of him buying into the Welsh football club, so one would imagine he would need to do some heavy consulting with her this time round.
